Your Daily Tarot Reading:

The Sun Has Something to Say to You

A bright, new day awaits you after a painful ending.

The Sun in Death

Some endings are impossible to prepare for. Often, they blindside you; the poorly timed endings tend to leave a deeply profound stain on your life, changing you forever.

Death, in tarot, is feared needlessly. It doesn’t really symbolize the actual death of something (in most cases), but it reminds us that endings can feel equally as permanent.

However, most people don’t notice the sun that’s peeking from beyond the horizon as Death rides into town on his horse, which is pure white to symbolize new life. This symbol is so subtle, yet a critical reminder that a gorgeous sunny day will follow even the darkest of rainstorms.

Death is an Optimist

When Death strolls into town on his pure white horse, he is not necessarily coming to take something away from you. Of course, that’s always how you’ll interpret it. Situations or connections ending feel like the Universe is taking your toys away, and you’re being grounded for staying up too late.

But Death only takes away things that were no longer serving you anyway. This ending had to occur to make way for a fresh, new beginning that better suits you as you currently stand.

For example, when you hate your job, you always look for excuses to call in sick. You want to spend as little time there as possible, minimizing the amount of energy you extend to it by half-heartedly completing each task. Suddenly, you might get fired; though you hate this job with everything in you, it feels like a failure. The rug gets pulled from under you, forcing you to think fast to regain your footing.

What you don’t see, though, is that your dream job is on the other side of this perceived loss. You mourned your unemployment but didn’t recognize that you now have the time and energy to find a job you actually enjoy going to every day.

A bright, new day awaits you after a painful ending.

Sudden Death

Typically, the most challenging aspect of Death in a tarot reading is how instantaneous the change appears to be. It really shocks the system; in many cases, it occasionally feels like you’re actually mourning.

Death often appears when the Universe has tried to tell you several different times that something wasn’t working for you. Unfortunately, sometimes you must learn the hard way to really understand what you deserve.

The good news is that there is always something better ahead of you. Sometimes, the things we want aren’t actually the things we need. A push in the right direction hurts for a moment, but as soon as you realize the amazing things that are standing in front of you after the fact, you’ll be so thankful you weren’t stuck in that old, stale situation that no longer serves you.

Even the brightest minds can ignore red flags, especially if they look pink in the sunlight. Learn to trust your intuition a bit more, and Death will visit you less frequently.

Move On and Prosper

Allow yourself to grieve for a moment, but move on once that moment ends. You can vent to friends, cry it out, or do whatever healthy coping mechanisms you have to get through this ending.

However, you can’t dwell on it forever; ruminating on this situation for too long will only put you back at square one when you should be focused on the beauty that lies ahead of you. Letting go of any self-limiting beliefs will help you release the situation that ended. Remember, the sun will always shine again–you might just need to get a good night’s rest.
