Modern life calls for a fast-paced lifestyle. You are constantly expected to one-up yourself, always soaring to new heights and reaching new goals. It’s great to dream big, but occasionally, you are inclined to lose sight of what’s really important along the way. When this happens, the Universe will send you the Hanged Man, which represents calm stillness.
You can see, though, that the Hanged Man clearly isn’t too upset that he’s reached a prolonged period of pause. Instead, he knows that this stillness can help him prepare for his next step when it’s time. But he also knows that he’s not the one to make that call…or it could get messy.
You may be described as a “Type A” personality, or at least a “Control Freak.” You need to let go of your sense of control.
The Hanged Man is represented by Pisces in the zodiac; Pisces are fish, and they flow with the waves of the water they live in. Currents allow them to come and go, accepting things exactly how they are. They are also in tune with their emotions, which lets them relinquish the need to know everything all the time.
People falsely associate the Hanged Man with death due to his imagery. Truthfully, no tarot card actually discusses death–not even one of the same name. If you look carefully, the Hanged Man’s eyes are open. His gaze is soft, but he is looking forward, with his arms crossed. His foot is gently resting on the branch that keeps him suspended.
Still, nothing in this image warrants any feelings of fear or worry. He knows that the Universe has his back, so he is calm.
If you hang too tightly onto your faux sense of control, the Universe will intervene. Interventions from the Universe are almost never pretty and almost always severely uncomfortable. Coincidentally, Death does come after the Hanged Man.
Sacrifices are necessary for you to move forward; refusing to answer the Universe’s call could lead to major consequences if you are too stubborn. Keep an eye out for signs and synchronicities that are alerting you about what you need to release before you are told to move forward.
You might not be at as much of a dead-end as you think, either. When was the last time you questioned your own perspective of the situation? Is it possible that you are getting in your own way? Think carefully about all the possibilities while things are seemingly unmoving. There are always multiple paths forward if you simply alter your mindset or change it completely.
Ultimately, the Universe is here for you; but sometimes, stubborn people create sticky situations, and they need to pull you out of it with force. This kind of process hurts, so why go through it if there’s an easier way out instead? The choice is yours!
Stagnancy and stillness aren’t necessarily bad things, though they feel that way at the moment. You are probably feeling pressure to move forward. Instead, make a list of things that you could release to feel better about yourself.
Finding peace in stillness is possible through self-reflection, like making lists, and meditation. You can really connect with yourself through daily meditation exercises.
The Hanged Man looks as if he is just waking up from meditating, based on the relaxed expression on his face. At the end of the day, situations are only “good” or “bad” if you decide that they are.
