Your phone is ringing. It’s the early hours of the morning, but you can’t put this call on Do Not Disturb. They’d just keep calling each time you hang up, anyway–or they’d leave a series of annoying, mildly threatening voicemails. It’s best to pick up the Universe’s call the first time you hear it to avoid a much slipperier slope in the long run.
The Hanged Man has clearly accepted his fate, staying relaxed despite being suspended hanging by a branch from the world’s tree. This is going to be a bumpy ride, but remember, it could always be worse!
This might feel like a particularly still moment. Notice how the Hanged Man isn’t moving like other cards; even Death is riding in on a high horse. But the Hanged Man is completely still, not changing positions until the Universe tells him to.
You can assume that he’s using this time to reflect on his instructions before he’s given them, or even while they are being given. The Hanged Man is wise, always knowing what to invest his time in and what to avoid.
Some things feel like a major loss when we develop attachments to them. For example, you could be pursuing someone romantically. Imagine you commit to each other, and you date for two years. Suddenly, you are blindsided by a breakup; however, it was not a mutual one…you’d much rather stay together and get married!
Instead of wallowing, you let yourself grieve for a month or so before getting back up again. Surrendering to the Divine allowed you to not only find a more suitable partner, but your dream job because you had time to devote to your career while you took a break from your emotional world.
Gathering a sense of perspective is your only way through, regardless of your situation. This will be an easy process if you realize that rejection is redirection. Other things are smaller scale, causing you to appreciate the little moments in life as lessons just as you would with bigger ones.
You will not be able to control any of the events that are about to unfold. Something major is changing within your current situation. Still, the Hanged Man doesn’t have his eyes closed. They’re relaxed, but they’re still open. He has accepted his fate completely, releasing all control to the Universe because he has learned how to trust it.
Some people are more stubborn than others–odds are you are on the more stubborn side of the scale. You can still change this habit, no matter how old you are in human years. You’ll thank yourself for it, too.
Often, we believe that controlling a situation will make us more satisfied but sometimes the most fulfilling circumstances are the ones that take us by surprise and force us to use a different approach than we normally would if it were in our hands completely.
Though this period feels still or even frustrating, it’s your time to shine. You can’t always be pushing forward at lightning-speed. Instead, rest up; you’re about to go on the journey of a lifetime, so long as you let the Universe take the lead.
Let yourself feel uncomfortable because it won’t be easy to let go of something you were attached to, especially if that thing is an outcome. You may even feel like you lost something. Remind yourself every day that the Universe wants what’s best for you, and watch as your whole situation changes for the better.
