TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Tuesday, 29 October 2024

Have you been going out of your way to help others for a long time that it's starting to get tiring?

Do you ever wonder if it's worth helping others when there doesn't seem to be a visible reward for doing good? This applies not just to helping others now, but even in your personal life. Some people you've helped may not be capable of repaying you, and some may not even offer a simple thank you in response.

Are you feeling exhausted from steadfastly studying My word and praying? Are My instructions and commandments starting to wear you down? Do you sometimes consider forsaking My words and returning to the world?

The Ungrateful Lepers

According to Luke 17:12-19, when Jesus was on earth, ten lepers came to Him seeking to be healed of their leprosy. Jesus instructed them to show themselves to the priest, and on their way, they were healed.

However, out of the ten lepers, only one returned to thank Him.

Throughout your life, you will encounter individuals who will make you question the value of doing good. These people will reject your assistance and, like the nine ungrateful lepers, fail to appreciate your efforts.

You will also meet individuals who may lead you away from My teachings through their character, attitude, and way of life. Remain steadfast in your faith and continue to follow My word.

It's okay to sometimes feel tired of doing good and serving Me. Loving others, helping them, being there for them, and practicing the fruit of the spirit can be overwhelming at times.

Paul understood this, which is why he admonished My disciples to not become weary in doing good.

The Ultimate Reward for Doing Good

The best part of all this is that you don't have to go through how you feel alone. You can find comfort knowing that you are not alone.

It's okay to feel like your good deeds are going unnoticed, but don't worry, I will reward you. You will receive My peace and My joy, and I will send help when you least expect it.

What's even better is that your reward won't just be here on earth; it will extend into eternity. You can trust Me to reward you bountifully for all your good works in eternity.

So, dear child, don't be burdened by the lack of applause from others or the lack of reciprocation when you show love. Look to Me and trust in My promises and My word.

Even when you don't feel like it, continue doing good to others. Go out of your way to offer your time, a meal, or money to your neighbors and those in need. Genuinely do good to those who hate you, and in due season, you will reap your reward.

Stay steadfast in studying My word and pray without ceasing. In due season, I will reward you bountifully, and it will be worth all the struggles you have gone through in the past.

Reflect on these words today

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believer

— Galatians 6:9-10

And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

— 2 Thessalonians 3:13
